SEXUAL ORIENTATION |
How we are addressing sexual orientation issuesIt is an offence to discriminate against someone on the grounds of their sexual orientation. This includes when providing services, goods or training (with the exceptions previously mentioned). NHSGG&C wants to get better at understanding both its workforce and the people who use our services. We know that sexual orientation affects health. However, at the moment we do not routinely collect information on sexual orientation from the people who use our services. Without this, it is difficult to deliver services that meet everyone’s needs. We are therefore going to introduce the collection of routine information relating to sexual orientation and will support this with a Sexual Orientation E-Learning module for all staff. Lesbian, gay and bisexual people will be represented through the establishment of NHSGGC’s Health Equalities Network and Equalities Health Reference Group. These groups will be instrumental in ensuring meaningful engagement to inform future developments in NHSGGC.
