SEXUAL ORIENTATION
How we are addressing sexual orientation
It is a criminal offence to discriminate against someone on the grounds of their sexual orientation. This includes when providing services, goods or training.
NHSGG&C wants to get better at understanding both its workforce and the people who use our services. We know that sexual orientation affects health. However, at the moment we do not routinely collect information on sexual orientation from the people who use our services. Without this, it is difficult to deliver services that meet everyone’s needs.
We are therefore going to introduce the collection of routine information relating to sexual orientation.
A lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender staff forum is also in development.
NHSGGC are hosting a LGBT day on the 17th June 2009 - for further information click here
