Promoting Equality in the Workplace

NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde is committed to promoting equalities in the workplace and providing a working environment which is free from harassment or discrimination of any nature.

In order to ensure equal opportunities are in existence, the organisation is required by law to gather information on its workforce in terms of such things as gender, age, ethnic background, disability, sexual orientation and religion. This information is also used to ensure that there are no discrepancies in relation to issues such as training, promotion and misconduct investigations.

As well as complying with the law, the information collected can then be used to plan around the specific needs of the workforce and to assess whether or not the NHS is seen as an attractive employer to various sections of society.

NHSGGC is therefore keen to gather as much information as possible on its current workforce. Around half of all staff have already taken part in the SWISS survey (Scottish Workforce Information Standard System). Anyone who has not already done so can request a survey from Workforce.information@ggc.scot.nhs.uk
